Highend vs Highstreet: Primer

So today I'm talking about primers. I don't have a lot of primers because I have already found some I love and I prefer to spend my money on other products. I have been asked a lot about Benefits Porefessional and Maybellines Baby Skin in the past and how they compare so I thought today I'd focus mainly on those two primers but then possibly drift into Rimmel primers too.

First of all, I will talk about Benefits Porefessional. Personally, I love this stuff. It is my favourite primer by far but the downside is that its so expensive for a primer! This is a pore-perfecting primer that targets areas where your pores are largest for a flawless look. I have large pores around my nose and chin so I use only a very small amount on those areas and then a cheaper drugstore primer on the rest of face simply to save product and expense.

What it claims:

Quickly minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.

This is a very silky, lightweight balm but some people find it to feel greasy. I personally don't  have this problem but I'd try it out in the shop to see if you are ok with it. This balm is also tinted slightly but not to the point where it comes in different colours, I just think this is a great way to disguise the pores even further.

The full sized tube of Benefits the Porefessional contains 22ml of product and retails at £24.50. I do think this is worth the price if you use the product sparingly.

Next is Maybellines Baby Skin. This is a much cheaper version. It does work the same way but I find that it feels extremely greasy on my skin, this is something that I don't particularly love.

What it claims:

Introducing Maybelline's first Baby blurring balm - an instant pore eraser! Enriched with insta-blur technology, this clear formula instantly transforms the look of your skin. Skin feels smoother, softer, and appears more refined.

The full size tube contains 20ml of product and retails at £7.99.

I wanted to love this a lot more than I did. For those of you who haven't yet tried Benefits the POREfessional, I would suggest purchasing this drugstore 'dupe' because they both do work well at disguising pores but I just think that Benefits version is a lot better.

Revlon Lip Butters Review

Hey everyone,

In March, you may remember me buying a Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya. Then in April I bought another one and also got 2 for my birthday. I have been using them quite a lot and so I have a review on them for you today.

What they claim:

  • Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
  • Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
  • Sheer to medium colour with buttery shades
  • Available in 20 luscious shades
These lip balms are extremely moisturising and hydrating. The formula is quite thick and so if you don't  like the feel of stickiness then I wouldn't recommend it to you. I agree that these are very sheer colours but you can still see the colour you bought it in. It is a very subtle colour especially in certain shades but  I like that about them.

The shade selection of these is very good. There are 20 shades which range from pinks to oranges to nudes however there are no reds. I have the shades Juicy Papaya which is a very sheer pastel orange/peach colour, Tutti Frutti which is probably the darkest shade. It is a very bright orange but you can sheer it out with only one coat. I love wearing this on my holidays as its such a pretty, bright colour. I also have Sugar Frosting which is a very subtle nude/pink colour and Strawberry Shortcake which is quite a bright pink. I borrow my best friends shade Pink Lemonade a lot and I really like that colour, it is a pale pink colour and is really pretty.
\

The colours these are available in are:

  • Wild Watermelon
  • Juicy Papaya
  • Sorbet
  • Pink Lemonade
  • Pink Truffle
  • Sugar Frosting
  • Raspberry Pie
  • Tutti Frutti
  • Peach Parfait
  • Fig Jam
  • Candy Apple
  • Red Velvet
  • Cotton Candy
  • Berry Smoothie
  • Cupcake
  • Lollipop
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Sugar Plum
  • Sweet Tart
  • Creme Brûlée

These lip balms smell quite nice and don't have much of a taste which can be good for a lot of people. These retail at £7.99 which is quite pricey for a drugstore lip balm. I do think that they are worth the money and I would suggest waiting for a time that they are on offer. They are often on 3 for 2 at Boots so I would suggest looking there. You can buy the Revlon Lip Butters here.

MAC lipsticks review

Despite only having two Mac Lipsticks, today Im going to review them for you.

I find that the Mac lipsticks are highly pigmented and smell amazing. There is such a wide range of colours and finishes and I would really like some more. There is so much range in colour that it took me a while to choose a colour.

I have the colours Syrup and Ravishing. Syrup is a neutral pink colour which I think is a nice everyday lipstick and Ravishing is a more orange toned lipstick.

These products are £15.00 each which is very expensive for a lipstick but I do really like them. I think good drugstore dupes would be the Rimmel lipsticks and I would suggest purchasing those if you are looking for a cheaper version. I would like some more of these and hopefully I will get some in the future!

My Photography #7

Hello everyone,

I only have two photos today because they don't really fit with many other categories.

This next picture is my favourite because I have two sisters and for this photo, I blended the photo of our feet with the photo I took of my younger and older sister. I then added a quote which I love. I hope you like this photo.
