March Favourites

So its the time of month again for March favourites and I've had a lot of favourites this month but not all too many beauty ones. There aren't as many products in this months favourite post but I've still got a few.

1. Homemade Lipsticks
So if you saw my 'How To: Making Lipstick' post then you'll know that recently I've made my own lipsticks. I really love that method and its so much cheaper than buying lipsticks. It's so fun too, I definitely recommend it.

2. Maryland Gooeys Chocolate Cookies
I love chocolate and I love cookies so when I saw these maryland cookies that had melted chocolate on the inside, I was desperate to try them out. They are so delicious. They're my new favourite biscuits.

3. Candles
I've been into candles from the beginning of this year as you know but this month, I've purchased lots more candles and tealights which I love so they have to make it into my favourites post once again.

4. Witch Pore Minimising Foaming Cleanser
This is a nice foaming cleanser that I use twice a week as well as my normal cleanser. I really like this because I feel that it helps keep my skin clear. As for pores, I'm not so sure it minimises them because I have quite large pores and I find it very difficult to find products that help that but I ill repurchase this because it helps clear my skin.

5. Dove Nourishing Hair Care Condtioner
I've started to use conditioner in the ends of my hair and I really like it. I love this shampoo and conditioner.

6. Fashion Magazines
Recently I've been really into the fashion magazines. I've been purchasing Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Glamour and Company magazine. I really enjoy reading these. In the future I might do a fashion magazine comparison. If you'd like that, let me know.

7. #Nomakeupselfie for Cancer Research.
I've really loved the huge amounts that the no makeup selfies have been raising. In the first 24 hours it raised £2million which is such a big amount. I think its such a nice way to raise money to help cancer research just by posting no makeup selfies. If you haven't already, join in and post a photo of you without makeup and nominate 3 others to do it too and donate £3 to cancer research by texting 'BEAT' to 70009. Spread the word!

8. Frozen
This honestly has been my favourite film since it came out but this month I've especially been obsessed with it. My best friend and I can't stop singing the songs as the soundtrack is amazing and I really love the storyline too. I think that the newer disney princess animations aren't as good as the 'old-school' Disney (except Tangled! I love that too!) but this film really is great and I would 100% recommend it. In fact it actually comes out in the UK today and I'm really looking forward to purchasing it.

Pretty Little Liars Tag (PLL #1)

Hey guys!

I have been so excited for this post! Since Pretty Little Liars is one of my tops 3 favourite tv shows and is so popular all over the world, I thought I'd start a Pretty Little Liars series. This is the first post and I am going to do the Pretty Little Liars Tag. This already is an existing tag but I have altered a few of the questions and have taken some questions because they no longer make sense with the current storyline. I tag anybody that wants to take part. If you are not up to date with Pretty Little Liars then don't read this because I would hate to spoil it for you!

1. Who is your favourite character?
This is difficult because I have to say, I love all of the liars but if I had to choose a favourite I would probably say Hanna or Spencer maybe. I like Hanna a lot because of her personality but I really enjoy watching scenes with Spencer in them because she's bound to piece something together.

2. Who do you think is behind the A-Team?
See this ones a difficult one. I'm really not so sure. Right when I have a theory, it gets knocked down when we find new answers so I'm not really sure! Comment your theories below.

3. Who do you ship?
Hmm… Aria and Jake, Hanna and Caleb, Spencer and Toby and I'm not so sure about Emily… Not Paige, thats for sure!

4. Most memorable cheesy moment?
I don't remember any in particular really.

5. Favourite Villain?
I really liked Mona because she had such a split personality and I just loved her as a villain!

6. Who do you think might become a villain?
To be honest, I'm pretty suspicious of everyone we love because just when the audience begins to love a character, they turn out to be bad so I'm not sure. It wouldn't surprise me if anyone became a villain because with this show, it could be anyone.

7. Which girl do you think has been hurt the most by A?
I think that all the girls have been hurt a lot by A but the most I'd probably say Hanna because of the thing with her Mum and jail and being hit by a car etc etc. So yeah, I'd probably say Hanna.

8. Which girls style do you love the most?
I don't like Spencer's style at all but as for the others, I like them all however if I had to choose one, I'd probably say Emilys.

9. Who's your crush on the show?
I love Jake and Jason but as for personality, I'd say Toby… so pretty much all of them!

10. Who is your least favourite character on the show? (out of everyone and out of the 4 girls)
Least favourite out of everybody would have to be Paige, she really gets on my nerves getting into everybody's business. Out of the girls, probably Emily because I think she gets herself into a lot of trouble and sometimes it really annoys me.

11. What was the most shocking moment for you?
Probably Ezra being A (or so we thought) and Ali being alive. Even though both of these things were pretty predictable I never thought they'd actually happen.

12. What would you do if A was after you?
Not leave my windows and doors unlocked, my curtains open, go out alone, got out in the dark.. pretty much all the things they do! No, I'd be a real wimp.

13. What has been your favourite episode so far?
I really liked the halloween episode on the train (Season 3) and the mid-season finale and finale of season 4. I love all episodes but these have to be stand out ones for me.

14. Which of the girls do you think you relate to the most?
I'm not really sure. I'm not really like any of them but if I had to choose one, it would probably be Spencer because I'm a lot more about the academic things than sports and things like that.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this tag.

What's in my hand luggage?

Hi guys!
So I travel a lot. 8 times a year actually because I have a holiday home abroad. This means I definitely know what to pack when it comes to entertaining yourself on a 9-hour flight. My best friend harrietjacksonx is coming on holiday with me in a couple of days and she's eager to know what I pack in my hand luggage (travel-on bag) and so I thought why not do a post and show you all? Obviously these things won't suit everyone but I just that I'd show you whats in my travel-on bag.

1. A Puzzle Book
On a 9 hour flight, you have to entertain yourself and sometimes good films aren't on the plane so I always take a puzzle book. I've packed 2 in my travel case: A Celebrity Puzzler Book and an ordinary Puzzle Book with crosswords, sudokus, word searches.. the whole lot. This just keeps you entertained for a while and you can easily go back to it.

2. A Notebook and Pens
I try to carry a small notebook with me because you never know when you might get an idea you need to write down or just something you'd need paper for. And ALWAYS make sure you have a few pens. It is so annoying when you sit down to do a word search and realise you didn't pack a pen or when your pen dies on you and you don't have another. Learning from past experiences, I always take a pen.

3. A small beauty bag
I take a see-through plastic bag with me filled with beauty products. A tip is to make sure you put it in a see-through plastic bag because otherwise you'll find yourself emptying all your products at the airport. Also make sure they are travel sized items because you're not allowed to exceed the limit for liquid items. I don't take any makeup on the plane with me except lip balm because nobody cares on the airplane, everybody looks shocking! I take: tissues, hand sanitizer, grips, bobbles, a mirror, a hair brush (for overnight travel, those static pillows are such a pain!), lip balm and a water spray to keep my skin hydrated.

4. My iPod
I cannot go on any journey without my iPod. I listen to it the whole journey, when I'm sleeping, eating and I even use my own headphones for the tv because theirs never stay on and are really bad quality so I'd always recommend taking some headphones and a musical device. Also make sure its fully charged because there nothing worse than it running out of battery mid-song!

5. A book (optional)
I don't always take a book because it depends whether I'm into reading at the time. I have to find a great book to actually read so if I do its great because I really can get stuck into it on the plane and it makes the time go a lot faster.

6. Homework or Work
This is boring but a plane journey is the best time to do it. When else do you have 9 hours to sit down? You're bored anyway so you may as well get it done then and then you can enjoy your holiday!

I also take my mini pillow pet (childish I know) but I've had it since I was small and its really comforting and small and easy to take on the plane. I just find it much more comforting than those static pillows! Also remember socks and a jacket because its cold thousands of feet in the air! Theres nothing worse than being cold for 9 hours straight and having nothing you can do about it.

This may seem like a lot but do remember that this is a 9 hour flight and I get bored easily without my phone or computer. I also just wanted to say that since I'm on holiday, me and my best friend may tim some vlogs and videos for our blog all about our stay in Florida so keep reading our posts and look at harrietjacksonx posts too for more videos and vlogs. Also comment below any Florida or summer-themed videos or posts you'd like us to do or email me at pinkcupcakeblog@yahoo.com and we'll try to do as many as possible.

These are my main travel-on items. I also have a post on travelling tips and travelling outfits/hair/makeup so look at those if you are travelling soon or want some tips.

What are your travel essentials?

Travelling Tips

Hey guys,

Today I'm going to tell you some tips for travel. I travel a lot so use these often, these are mainly for  an airplane ride but you could use them for other types of travel too. Also please see my Wednesday Post for Travelling Hair, makeup and outfit ideas and look on Wednesday for my hand luggage essentials.

Tip 1: Drink Lots Of Water
This is a must for long journeys, especially airplane journeys. Your skin will get so dry, your throat will feel dry and you can also get dehydration. Obviously you could drink other things but I find that water works best. It keeps your skin and throat hydrated.

Tip 2: Carry Water Spray
I take a small squirty bottle from Simple. It lasts a long time and even when it runs out you can easily replace it with water. I just find that this keeps your skin hydrated too. Due to being thousands of feet in the air, there is lack of moisture which you'll really feel, so I find it nice to keep my skin hydrated and healthy on the plane.

Tip 3: Chew on Sweets during take-off, taxi and landing.
I take a pack of refreshers and it stops your ears from popping which can often hurt your head or be painful. Also its an excuse to eat sweets!

Tip 4: Take snacks.
Personally I find plane food disgusting and others do too because they obviously can't make you a proper meal with hundreds of people to feed with little  space and no oven! The food can often be really disgusting and it may be difficult and unhealthy to last multiply hours without food.

Tip 5: Sleep.
It sounds obvious but so many people get carried away with the films that they forget to have a sleep. It really does help you with jet-lag and it makes the time pass much faster.

Tip 6: Stretch your legs.
This will also help with jet lag and it makes you feel much better and refreshed on the plane.

Tip 7: Watch films!
Lots of people would recommend you do other things and avoid the tv which I disagree with. Obviously do still do things like eat, sleep and stretch your legs but I find that watching just a few things can make the time pass so much quicker. My flight is 9 hours and thats basically just 4 films! If you enjoy them, the time goes so much faster!

These are my main tips for travel, this is what I do every time and they really do work. I hope I helped those of you travelling soon!

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub Review

Recently I have bought this lush lip scrub, my sister bought it for me as she used to have one in a different flavour and loved it so much.

I purchased it in the flavour "Bubblegum" and it tastes so nice. The whole concept of this product is that you exfoliate your lips and then lick off the excess product. I love this idea and it makes me feel a lot better knowing that it is actually edible. It tastes like bubblegum and is very sugary and tastes great.

I use this product every morning and night as part of my skincare routine and baring in mind that I've had this product for around a month know you can see in the picture above how much is left. This will last a long time and so I think it is definately worth your money.  It has worked wonders on my lips, I really does exfoliate them nicely, removing all dead skin and making your lips super soft and smooth. I saw results within the first few days of using this product.

The small glass container is a great packaging for this product, it makes it extremely easy to access the product an apply it easily, getting the amount of product you want. I also like the fact that once I have finished this lipscrub, I can reuse the glass container for other things.

These lipscrubs are available in a range of different flavours: Bubblegum, Popcorn, Sweet Lips and Mint Julips. I do wish there were more flavours but hopefully in the future there will be.

These lip scrubs cost £5.50 and I think that they are definately worth that. I will be repurchasing one of these once I've used it up. I would recommend checking them out. Click on the different flavours, they're all linked to the website. Or if you'd like to see how I make my own lipscrub then click here.

My Makeup/Beauty Collection

Hi guys!
So I've been meaning to do this post for a while and have just gotten around to doing it. This is my Makeup Collection, I'm obviously not trying to show off, this is just a nice and fun post to do and can also give some tips on how to store makeup. Also, I'd like to point out that I have a lot of nail polishes because my sister used to be a beautician and so she brought back a lot of products for free. Also, you'll obviously be seeing a lot of my make-up in this post and so if you see any that you'd like to see a review on, just a leave a comment below.

Makeup:
So I store my makeup in some small storage boxes in my wardrobe. You can get these boxes most places honestly.

First I'm going to go through the left-hand side box. In the top box, I keep all of my eyeshadow palettes. This ranges from palettes from Claires to Mac Palettes.

In the next draw, I have single eyeshadows, eyeliners, eyebrow products and mascaras.

In the bottom draw I have some hair accessories. My hair tools and sprays are in a different box but some of my accessories are in this box.

Then moving onto the right-hand side box. In the top draw, I have primers, foundations, concealers etc.

Then in the next draw down, I have lipsticks and lip balms.

In the bottom draw, I keep lip glosses, blushes and highlighters.

On top of the boxes, I have my makeup bag with my everyday makeup in and also my brushes in my makeup brush holder that I made. Previously I've done a DIY makeup brush holder post that you can see too.

Nails:
I have three heart shaped boxes. In the top one, I keep miscellaneous things. In the middle I keep nail polish remover, cotton wool etc.. and in the bottom I keep my nail polishes in colour order.

Other:
I also have a drawer where I keep sprays. Hairspray, body sprays, perfumes, deodorants… all of them!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know if you'd like a more in-depth post of my collection let me know below.

Outfit of the Day #1

Hey guys,
So because I got such a good response to my "Outfits I've been loving" post, I thought I would do Outfit of the Days more regularly. Heres my outfit for today.

Today my family and I went out to run a few errands and so I wanted a comfy but warm outfit whilst it being fairly bright as it is getting towards spring.

I wore some plain black leggings with a long sleeved white top from PacSun and paired it with a thin pink jumper from Aeropostale. Ontop of that, I wore a denim jacket with fabric sleeves which is from American Eagle and on my feet I wore white converse.

As for accessories, I didn't wear very many, just my love heart ring that I constantly go on about and on my nails I had the colour 'Flying Saucers' from Topshop.

Fresh Minerals Powder Foundation Review

Hey guys!
As I've said in many previous posts, I'm not much of a foundation person. I'd love to be but to be honest I don't tend to find any that I like. Only 2: Bourjois Healthy mix Serum and Fresh Minerals Powder Foundation. I have very awkward skin, it tends to have a lot of redness and can't decide whether its dry or oily. This is extremely annoying because my forehead and the bridge of my nose are extremely oily, whereas my chin and around my nose are very dry. This makes it very difficult to find foundations that compliment both skin types. However with this powder foundation I'm going to be reviewing today, its not the case, I'll tell you why. Also I wanted to say that all products mentioned are linked if you click on them.

So this is a powder foundation and I use a real techniques multi-task brush to apply it. I find that this gives me the correct amount of product and this brush really helps me to blend the foundation in well. I love this foundation because it give a nice coverage but still allows your natural skin to shine through. It is a little orange tinted but not over the top which I like because it makes me look quite glowy and not too pale. It also makes my skin look quite dewy and nice.

This powder foundation had two different sections. One contains 'radiant' coverage and the other 'natural'. Personally I prefer the natural one because the radiant one can look very shiny and glimmery. Both are good though.

I got this powder foundation in a set with a primer and kabuki brush. The brush is fantastic, I think it's similar to the real techniques stippling Brush but smaller. The primer so terrible though! You can see it on your face and it feels horrible and greasy.

The only disadvantage with this product is the fact that its powder. I like that in terms of coverage and texture because it feels light on your skin and doesn't look cakey but since its powder, its very messy. When you open the lid, powder tend to fly out and if you tip the right amount onto the lid, it can make a mess, also when trying to tighten the lid this happens. The powder is orange like I mentioned earlier so when wiping it off a wooden or white surface, it can leave stains and get into the grooves but if you can get past this and learn to do it more neatly, I would definitely recommend buying it because it is my favourite foundation.

How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

Hi guys,
So I have never been one to clean my makeup brushes very often but recently I have begun to keep them clean because I've found a much more easy and effective way of cleaning them. It is a lot more important than we realise to keep our brushes clean and today I'm going to show you how to clean your brushes.

Why Clean Them?
Many people don't realise it but most acne is actually due to dirty makeup brushes. When you use a brush to apply coverage to blemishes or acne, the bacteria is then on your brush so when you use it to apply makeup to other areas of the face, it is spreading the bacteria and causing blemishes in other areas of your skin. If you don't clean them very often, the bacteria is constantly building up and it becomes a very easy way to get bad skin. Cleaning your brushes often can prevent a lot of acne and if you clean them well, they can also be very conditioning to your skin.

How Often Should I Clean My Brushes?
At least once a month on average but if you often use brushes, especially for things like concealer and foundation, you might be better washing them more often. If you have acne prone skin and use makeup every day, I would recommend washing them once a week or spot cleaning them after every use and a deep clean once a month as usual.

How I clean my brushes:
I don't spot clean because personally I don't think it does anything for the brushes, so I tend to deep clean the brushes I have used most every Friday and give them chance to dry fully over the weekend. This may sound very often, but it is better for reducing acne in the long run.

Things you'll need:
Baby Shampoo (or a gentle shampoo)
A Sink or tap
A Towel
Your Brushes
Your hand!

1. Take your gentle shampoo, I use the Johnson's Baby Shampoo in honey. I keep this shampoo specifically for makeup brushes because it is left over from when my little sister was a baby and so we don't use it anymore. A decent sized bottle like mine does last a long time.

2. Now squirt some onto the palm of your hand (preferably over the sink or bath), I like to use quite a decent amount because it lathers better for a deeper clean. I also like to add a drop of water from the tap onto the shampoo because it helps it to lather better.

3. Then take your makeup brush and rub it in circular motions into the shampoo on the palm of your hands. It should lather up and you should quite quickly the colour come out of the brush. The shampoo is usually a clear/white colour so you should see it change depending on the brush. You will be surprised on the amount of foundation that comes out of your brush. Then turn the tap on and wait for the water to be warm, then I put my hand under the tap, continuing circular motions with the brush. Eventually the brush should look just like its new and then its clean!

4. Then I put my brush on a towel and leave them to dry. I like to leave them to dry overnight, leave them longer if possible. Now your brushes are clean!

DIY: Hair Bows

Hey guys,
I've always loved hair bows but have always spent my money otherwise because lets face it, when you can choose between clothes and a bow, you'll usually choose the clothes. So I decided to try to make my own. Here's what I did!

Things You'll Need:

  • Material
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Hair Clips

 What to do:
1. First take your fabric and cut it into a square. Use whatever fabric you want your bow to be but before going out and buying some, I would recommend seeing if you have any already from previous projects or cut up some old clothing or something like that because you don't need very much.

2. No roll the fabric over until it is a long strip of fabric, the thickness that you want your bow to be. Use your hot glue gun to glue it to stay in place and cut any frayed pieces of fabric off the edges to neaten it up.

3. Now cut any material off the sides of the fabric to make it the size that you want your bow to be and fold the ends in and glue them.

4. Then pinch the middle of the fabric to scrunch it up into a bow shape.

6. Glue the middle pinched bit together so that it stays like that.

7. Now take a small section of fabric and secure it around the bow to cover the pinched middle bit. Glue it down and now your fabric should resemble a bow.

8. Finally, secure your bow to a clip or hair grip and leave the glue to set. Now your bow should be ready to use!

i hope you enjoyed this tutorial. It was very hard to explain what I was doing but you can follow the pictures and they should help. Send me pictures of your bows at pinkcupcake7blog@yahoo.com.

DIY: Key Decorations

Hey guys,
So today it's Friday and Friday's DIY day. I am going to show you a really cute way of decorating your boring keys. I did not come up with this, I saw it on Trusper Tips app and I really liked it so I recreated it and decided to show you today.

Things You'll Need:
A Key
Nail Polish (Whatever colours you want your key to be)
Clear Coat Nail Polish
Small, thing paintbrush

I'm going to show you how to make the blue key above but it is pretty simple on how to change the pattern to make it how you want.

1. Clean your key. This is not a vital step (I have to be honest and say I didn't do this) but it is best to clean it.

2. Paint your key with a base colour. For me, this was bikini so teeny by Essie. Make sure the paint on the part of the key with grooves is not as thick to ensure that the key still works.

3. No paint your pattern on. I started by taking a white polish and painting messy white circles all over the key.

4. Then I took a pale pink colour and put it lightly on top of the white blobs.

5. Next I used the small paint brush to paint thin bright pink lines all over the blobs making it look like a rose.

6. Then I took a dark blue/green colour and drew leaves on the flowers. This doesn't have to be too neat, it actually tends to look better a little scruffy.

7. Now paint a sheer clear coat over the key once it's dry. I left one side to dry at a time but you can loop a grip through the hole and tape it to a desk to dry both sides. Just make sure the key is fully dry before painting the top coat otherwise the polish will smudge and the pattern will be messed up.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY tutorial and comment below if you have any DIY projects or posts you'd like to see. Thank you!
