September Favourites

Its the end of September which means its time for a favourites post. All items mentioned are linked.

1. Soap and Glory Brow Archery
I've really loved this product for my brows this month. I had them tinted when I returned from my holiday late August so they were quite full already but recently the colour in the ends has begin to fade so I use the felt tip side of this to fill in the sparse areas.

2. Earth Therapeutics Precisso Blending Sponge from Kohls
I actually prefer this beauty sponge to my Beauty Blender and this month I have used this sponge most days. I find that it reallly blends your makeup out flawlessly but also makes it look natural. I love it.

3. MAC Cremeblend Blush in LadyBlush
I hauled this product late August and I've been using it ever since. This blush creates such a natural flush of colour which is great for me as I love natural makeup.

4. Abercrombie Top
I have been loving a top I bought this summer. I got it from Abercrombie and its just a plain grey t-shirt that says 'Stay Classic' on it. I have been wearing this in practically every outfit (I'm at school so its only weekends). I wear it dressy with a blazer and casual, it looks great both.

5. Shake it Off by Taylor Swift
I have had this song on repeat this month, I absolutely love it. I think its so fun, catchy and easy going. I   just love it.

6. Gossip Girl
I started watching this programme and watched 3 seasons in 3 weeks. Its such a great show and I've been addicted this montm=h.

7. Netflix
I watch Gossip Girl on Netflix along with lots of other films and tv shows. I think that its got such a great selection of good films especially for the price. Its super cheap when you think that you couldn't even get a DVD for the price of a month on netflix watching any tv show or film. Its a great bargain and since I'm a new member, this month has been free! I love it.

DIY Room Ideas

I have done a post before called Room Ideas in which I showed you some features of my bedroom but all of those were things I bought. Today I thought I'd show you some fairly cheap DIY projects. I only have two for today but if you like them let me know because my sisters want me to do some DIY things for them so I will be doing more.

Firstly, I made this cute little decoration to hang over my desk. I bought the string which has butterflies on it and pegs from Michaels in the sale for around $1. If you can't find these, I would suggest using some wooden pegs you already have or buying some from Dollar Tree or Poundland and painting them different colours and patterns. For the string, just use normal string, lace or ribbon and cut out butterflies to stick to them with a hot glue gun.

I hung the string up with blue tac and pegged on some of my Photo Booth photos with friends and family. I just think that this is a really cute idea to decorate your room and it only cost $2 to make!

My next DIY is this really cute way to hang necklaces. I asked my little sister to find me some pebbles in the garden or you could buy some. I washed them off and used a hot glue gun to stick them to the inside of my wardrobe but you could put them on your wall too. This would also look great if you painted them first.

If you try either of these ideas and want to send me pictures then my email is pinkcupcake7blog@yahoo.com and I'd love to see them.

Minimal Product Makeup Look With As Few Products As Possible!

This look is quite a natural, everyday makeup look but with as few products as possible. This is for those of you who have very little time in a morning and need as few products as possible. I managed to do this look with just four products in total.

First take a medium coverage foundation. Rimmels Match Perfection or Maybellines Super Stay 24-hour foundation are good drugstore ones to use. I find this is great to use as both foundation and concealer because you can apply it sheerly to the whole face and more heavily to problem areas. You can use your fingers to apply this quicker.

Then take a bronzer, I'm using NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in Sunny and use this to warm up your face as well as in the crease of your eyelid to add definition. You can also use this in your brows to slightly fill them in. You could also use this as an eyeliner.

Then take your favourite mascara, I'm using Benefits They're Real.

Finally take a lip balm or lipstick and use it both on your lips and cheeks. I'm using Baby Lips in Cherry Me. Blend it out with your fingers on the apples of your cheeks for a subtle glow.

Summer Hate-Its (Disappointing Products)

From the title, this may seem like a boring post where I will just rant about products but when I was looking at which if my posts have the most page views and comments, I realised that my top two were my 'Beauty and Fashion Favourites of 2013' and 'Disappointing Products of 2013'. Since I do a favourites post roughly every month, I thought that maybe I would start doing a disappointing products post every season.

So since you seem to like it when I rant, here goes! I also just want to note that even though these products disappointed me, you may like them. That's fine, obviously it's just personal preference but these are all products that I would steer clear of. I only had 3 products in this post but if you like it then I will include more in my next one.

1. BabyLiss Curl Secret
Although this product does work to create curls. I was very disappointed with it. I find that it takes such a long time to curl your hair because you have to use tiny strands and ontop of that, I get extremely nervous when doing the back of my hair that I will insert the strand in the wrong place resulting in my hair getting caught in this tiny contraption. Overall, I just wasn't impressed with this product.

2. The Body Shop Tea Tree Cleanser
I've always been a huge fan of tea tree oil to clear blemishes but the cleanser really didn't do it for me or my best friend. I'm not sure whether this was just our skin but I was disappointed by this product. I'm glad I only purchased the

3. Freederm Gel
This is supposed to be the UK equivalent to Proactiv so I was expecting major results but honestly I really didn't find it to work at all.

The Beauty Blogger Tag

I have done a Beauty Blogger Tag before but this one is actually different questions. I tag Harrietjacksonx and beautybyeden to do this tag.

1. Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
I started because my best friend who also has a blog (harrietjacksonx) practically forced me into making one and I;m so glad she did because I love it! I started it last November, so thats about 10 months!

2. Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
Other than my friends blogs, I would have to say Zoellas. I love her blog.

3. What was the first blogsphere hyped about product that you bought? Was it worth the hype?
I think that that was the peach BabyLips. I love it and have bought lots more BabyLips since then and probably will buy lots more in the future!

4. What are your five favourite things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?

  •  Writing Posts
  •  Your Comments - this is probably my favourite thing. You all leave so many lovely comments!
  • Reading other peoples blogs
  • Other bloggers - I love finding out more about other bloggers and when you leave links to your blogs in the comments.
  • Having a reason to splurge! - I always feel guilty when buying more makeup because I have a lot and don't really need more but thinking that I can review it makes me feel a little bit less guilty!
5. What have you learnt from being a beauty blogger?
This has helped me search more into products before buying them because I realise that there are so many blog reviews out there, just like my own that I can read before spending my money.

6. Have you changed anything since becoming a beauty blogger?
Other than the re-design of my blog a few weeks ago, I have changed the background for my photos and tried to improve them as best as I can.

7.  Is there any advice that you would give beauty bloggers just starting out?
I have to say to have patience because it takes a while to get pageviews and followers in the beginning and just remember that after first creating your blog, it takes time for people to find it and tell others about it. Once you have some followers, it becomes so much easier to gain more so just have patience with it. I would also say to gain pageviews and followers, it helps if you show interest in other peoples blogs by following them or leaving comments. Thats a good way to get your blog seen.

8. What are your top five makeup brands?
Maybelline, Rimmel, MAC, Soap and Glory and Bourjois probably.

9. Recommend your top five beauty products?
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Obviously this is a hugely talked about product. It is such good quality and super affordable.

Benefit They're Real Mascara - I have mentioned this before on my blog because it is a newly found product but I love it. It makes your lashes look amazing.

Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencil - This isn't talked about that much but I really love it.

SunBum's Key Lime Lip Balm - I haven't actually talked about this before either but I really love this so much. It is factor 30 and tastes like lime. I can't get enough of it!

MAC Painterly Paint Pot - This is a great base for your eyeshadow or I love to use it on its own to cancel out redness on my lids.

Natural Makeup Look

This is a great makeup look for school or work if you have 5-10 minutes to spare in the morning. I usually end up with just concealer but this is great if I have more time. All items mentioned throughout the post are linked to their website.

1. I use two primers. The Benefit PoreFessional on my nose but really use it where your pores are largest instead of all over to save money. Then I use Rimmels Fix and Perfect on the rest of my face.

 2. I now take my damp blending sponge from Kohls and apply Maybellines 24-hour Superstay Foundation to even out my skin tone. I only use half a pump but it is great when I'm having a bad skin day. If my skin is better then I use a water-based foundation like Chanels Vitalumiere Aqua or MACs Face and Body.

3. Now I take the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer in the corner of my eye and blend it with a Real Techniques Essential foundation brush which is great for concealing. I then mix Collections Lasting Perfection Concealers in Fair and Deep and apply it to any blemishes.

4. I then take MACs LadyBlush on a Stippling Brush and apply it to the apples of my cheeks. Sometimes I'll also apply MACs Cream Colourbase in Shell to my cheekbones and cupids bow.

5. Then I curl my eyelashes with my No7 curlers and apply some clear mascara from Maybelline for a natural look. I then comb them through with the brush on the end of my eyebrow pencil.

6. Using Soap and Glory's Brow Archery, I fill in the sparse parts of my brows lightly with the felt tip side.

7. Finally, I use a tube lipgloss from MAC and set my makeup with MACs Fix Plus.

Makeup Brushes / My Updated Makeup Collection

Firstly, sorry for the brushes not being cleaned before I took these photos… Anyway today its the makeup brush collection which is the last one of my collection.

Firstly in the smaller jar, I keep smaller eye brushes. These are al my Real Techniques ones which I love. These are probably my favourites.

These three I am not sure on the brand because they were given to me by my sister.

These are all miscellaneous brushes. I have some from Claires, QVS and one from Stila.

Onto the larger pot, I have one from Forever 21, one from QVS and one from Superdrug.

These two are also from Claires.

As you can see again, I love these Real Techniques Brushes, especially the Essential Foundation Brush, its perfect for concealer.

This is from Bare Minerals and is great to keep in your bag or pocket due to its size.

Finally I have these two from Icing. I love the stippling brush, I use it for cream blush as well as water-based foundations. These are supposed to be the same quality as Sephora Brushes and I agree, they are a great price too.

I have two mini Benefit glosses as well as two mini Bobbi Brown ones. I used to have three Bobbi Brown ones but I don't know whether the other is.. maybe it'll turn up one day. Finally I only have two lipliners. One red from Maybelline and another Pinky nude one from NYX.

I also have some lip balms but I didn't show those. I might do that in another post in the future.

Eyeliners and Mascaras / My Updated Makeup Collection

Today I'll be showing you my eyeliners and mascaras as well as a few brow products. This was supposed to have gone up yesterday so sorry about that.

Firstly for Mascaras. I have a lot because I don't throw them away after 3 months. I very rarely wear mascara so it would be a huge waster of money to keep throwing them away. I have one from Company, Models Inc, two Covergirls Exact Eyelights Hazel, Benefits Bad Lash and Bourjois' Ultra Volume all of which are ok. Then I have a few from Rimmel which I like except for the Scandal Eyes Flex which I hate. I have two Maybelline Colossal (one in brown and one black). I also have Maybellines Big Eyes and Define a Lash. I really like Maybellines The Rocket. I love that type of applicator which I find similar to Benefits They're Real which is my all time favourite. I then have a white mascara for adding volume and a clear one from Maybelline which is actually my most used mascara!

I have a brown and purple eyeliner from Bourjois as well as four from Rimmel. Two in black, a white and a nude. I also have a brown shadow stick from Jelly Pong Pong as well as one from Max Factor. I have a turquoise liner from Avon and a green one from covergirl. As for liquid liners, I have one from MAC, one from Collection, one from Company and one from Rimmel. I also have Benefits Gimme Brwo and Maybellines Define a Brow and MasterShape in there.

Eyeshadow / My Updated Makeup Collection

You can obviously see by the title that today I'm talking about eyeshadows.

I'll start with single ones and small palettes. I have Bourjois' Smokey Eye palette but to be honest I find it quite chalky and not very pigmented. I also have the Smokey and Natural palette from Sal & Jo's which I really love. I bought these at Sally's. I then have a small palette from Avon which is really nice neutral colours. I also have a Covergirl palette from the Exact Eyelights range.  I have the hazel eyes one. I then have Milanis Brow Kit which is what I lean towards for powder for my brows.

As for single shadows, I have a gorgeous turquoise from Rimmel, a green and a pale pink from Bourjois, a purple from 17 and a little shimmer pigment. I also have 4 cream shadows which are my favourites. I have MACs Paintely Paint Pot which is a great eye primer and on its own. I have one from Benefit which is called RSVP. This was my first cream shadow and probably my favourite. I then have two Maybelline Colour Tattoos in Bad to the Bronze and Tough as Taupe.

Onto my other eyeshadow palettes, I have one from Chili Pepper which has some really nice greys. i also have one from Disney. I have two from Wet N Wild in the colours Comfort Zone and Petal Plusher I think. I have another one that I love but Im not sure what brand it is by. I then have MAC's Limited Edition Stroke of Midnight Warm palette and my custom pro palette which only contains two eyeshadows so far in the shades Satin Taupe and Nocteurnelle.

Blush, Bronzer and Highlighter / My Updated Makeup Collection

Today I'm onto blushers, bronzers and highlighters. I'll start with bronzers.

Bronzers
I actually only have about 3 or 4 bronzers. My favourite is NYC's bronzer in Sunny. I love this for both warming up the face and contouring. I also have Covergirls Bronzer and I have to say I really don't like it. It isn't very pigmented and has sparkles which make it really difficult to use without making your face glittery. I find the same thing happens with one I have from Sal & Jo's.  I also keep a matte brown eyeshadow with my bronzers because I like to use it for a heavier contour.

Highlighters
As for the highlighters, I have a sample size of Benefits Girl Meets Pearl and High Beam. I really like High Beam because I prefer cream based products and its a nice natural highlight. I also have Wet N Wilds Reserve Your Cabana highlighter which I probably use the most. I don't find this to be very pigmented if I use a brush to apply it but it applies great with my fingers or a flat brush. The only other highlight I have is a MAC Cream Colour Base in the shade Shell which is a nice natural, peachy highlight.

Blush
Firstly, I have two of the Bourjois Blushers in the shades 15 and 16. I think these are my favourite drugstore blushes. I also have one from Stila but I don't know the shade, this is my favourite blush- I love it. I have one from Covergirl but I don't find it to be very nice on my cheeks, I like to use it as eyeshadow though. I also have Benefits Thrrrob which I got for free with a phone. This is a really pale, natural blush with a slight sparkle. I'm not sure its sold anymore though. Onto my cream blushes, I have a Maybelline Master Glaze in the shade Pinched Pink and Benefits Cha Cha Tint. I also have MACs cream blush in the shade LadyBlush which is a lovely, natural pink.

Other Face Powders
As well as the blushes, bronzers and highlighters, I also have three miscellaneous type products. I have Rimmels Stay Matte Powder because this is my only powder so I throw it in with this section of my collection. I also have a powder foundation by Fresh Essentials which should really go with my foundations but I like to keep it with my powder. The other thing I have is Benefits 10 which is supposed to be a bronzer/highlighter duo except min has been so smashed up that it all is blended into one shimmery, golden powder.

This is it for this part of my makeup collection. My next post will be on Sunday

Face Products / My Updated Makeup Collection

This is the first post of my makeup collection series. Today I'm going to bestowing you my face products so that's primers, foundations and concealers. I will talk ore in depth than my overview post so it may be a bit long. All reviews i have done on products mentioned will be linked at the bottom of the post as well as my older makeup collection.

Primers

Firstly, primers. I have the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer twice because I keep repurchasing this. I really like it, it is very moisturising and thick but drys fast and really does help my makeup last.

Then I also have Benefit's The PoreFessional in a full size and mini version. This is my favourite primer. I have big pores but this always makes a great base for a flawless face (Didn't mean for that to rhyme). It is very expensive though so I also have Maybellines Baby Skin but I really don't think it can compare. It feels quite greasy on my skin which I hate but other than that it is ok and I will use it up but don't think I'll repurchase it.

I also have a mini Fresh Minerals Primer which I got in a kit. This is terrible. It has such a funny teture and is visible on the skin as it kind of flakes as you rub it in. I really don't like it. The last primer I have is from Garnier and is for your eyes to put underneath concealer. It has a slight sparkle which is nice for brightening the eye area. I also have MACs Fix Plus.

Foundations

I have a few foundations because I struggle to find some that I love due to me being so picky with them. Firstly from Maybelline, I have the

Then from Rimmel I have the Match Perfection. I do like this for more coverage and it is probably my favourite higher coverage foundation. It  is super affordable too. I also have the Stay Matte Foundation from Rimmel which I don't love. It is overly matte making it look cakey if you don't apply it correctly. It would be good for photographs though.

From Chanel I have the Vitalumiere Aqua which I love, I have recently discovered that I love water based foundations because they are light and natural. I also bought MACs Face and body which is water based. These two are probably my favourites. They may be pricey, but i do find them to be worth it.

I also have the Healhty Mix Serum from Bourjois which I really like. It is quite light and natural and smells like strawberries. This is my favourite overall drugstore foundation.

Finally, I have L'Oreal's BB Cream. This adapts to your skin tone so it applies grey. I'm not overly sure about this concept because I don't love the fact that it applies grey but it's ok.

Concealers

Firstly I have three of Collection's Lasting Perfection. I have two in fair 01 but thats a little too light and I have the shade deep 04 so I just mix a bit of that in. I love this concealer. It is better than some high-end concealers and is only £4.19.

Next I have Maybellines Cover Stick in Green to counteract redness. I also have it in flesh tone but thats in one of my handbags. Next to that I have Stila's Cover Up Stick which I don't like.

I then have Maybellines Age Rewind which I love so much. I have repurchased it so many times and i just think its so good.

I then have NYX's Full Coverage Concealer which doesn't work great with the dry patches on my combination skin but its alright. I also have small Benefit Bo-oing and Eyebright which I depotted from a kit.

Those are all of my face products!

Updated Beauty Collection

I have recently done out my makeup storage. I have bought a lot more makeup since my last collection post because I just love beauty products! In this post, I'm not going to show you each product. I'm just going to give you an overview of each draw. I will do separate posts for my lipstick collection etc which will be coming later on.

I'm not going to bother wit the whole disclaimer that every beauty guru says because I'm sure you'll have heard it so many times before, I just love organising my makeup and you seemed to enjoy my tips last time.

I have the Alex Drawers from Ikea which you're probably sick of seeing due to them being so popular amongst beauty bloggers and youtubers however I only have the 5-drawer set because I definitely don't have that many beauty products to fill 9 drawers. They are available in different colours but I got the Birch Effect to match the rest of my furniture. I'll leave all links at the bottom of the post. I also got all of the little boxes to organise my makeup within the drawers from Dollar Tree.

On top of the drawers, I have my Jewelry box, a candle, a small mirror and my makeup brushes.

The first drawer holds all of my nail polishes, I arrange them in brands rather than colour as I can see the colour from above. I also have different nail things at the back of the drawer like nail files, cotton wool, nail polish remover etc.

In this drawer I have some of my makeup. I have primers and foundations at the back followed by a box for blush and another for bronzer and highlighter in the middle and at the front I have concealers. I also keep some miscellaneous beauty tools in the front.

The next drawer down also contains makeup. This drawer is slightly deeper than the top two. All three of the bottom drawers are deeper. At the back of this drawer I have eyeliner and eyebrow products. I then have lip balms and lip tints in front of that and mascaras down the side. I have a box of lip glosses in the middle and in the front, all of my lipsticks, lip crayons and small eyeshadow palettes. I also slot my larger eyeshadow palettes in between the organisation boxes within the drawer.

In this drawer I have deodorants, body sprays, perfumes and body lotions.

Finally, this drawer is kind of miscellaneous. It has beauty bags, makeup wipes, my mini-mergency kit and face masks.

As I said, there will be more detailed posts throughout the week but this is my overview.

I Heart Fall Tag!

Just a side note, I decided to keep my blog address as pinkcupcake7.blogspot.com due to trouble with changing it on Bloglovin which is my main source of readers. I hope you don't mind all of this but my blogs name will still be Just Add Sparkle but my address will be the same.

Anyway, I haven't done a tag in quite a while and when I was looking for some to do, I came across this one and I thought it was relevant seeing as fall/autumn is approaching so here goes the I Heart Fall Tag! I tag harrietjacksonx, beautybyeden and all of you to do this tag! If you do, leave a link below and I'd love to go over to your blog and read it!

1. Favourite Fall Lipstick?
This is difficult seeing as I never associate my lip colours to the season but if I did, I would probably say MAC's Syrup. This is kind of more of a winter colour but I also think that it is wearable for fall. I also like Rimmel London's Kate Moss Lipstick in 107. Thats a nice deep red.

2. Favourite Fall Nail Polish?
Again, I don't choose the colour depending on the season but if I did, I would probably say Gelish's Good Gossip. This again is more of a winter colour but I all wear it in the fall.

3. Favourite Fall Starbucks Drink?
I usually go with water or Chocolate Chip Frapuccino. I'm boring when it comes to Starbucks!

4. Favourite Fall Candle?
It 's not very fall inspired but I love vanilla scented candles.

5. Favourite Fall Scarf or Accessory?
I love when my boots can come back out of my cupboard! I just love the look of them and they're so comfortable!

6.  Haunted House, Haunted Hay Ride or Haunted Corn Maze?
I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to scary things so I wouldn't like any but if I had to choose, it would probably be the hay ride.

7. Favourite Halloween Movie?
I love the kids halloween movies, I always watch them with my sister and my favourites are Hocus Pocus and Caspar.

8. Favourite Candy/Sweets to eat on Halloween?
I love liquorice!

9. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?
Unfortunately, I'm on a plane this halloween so I'm not dressing up as anything.

10. What is your favourite thing about Fall?
The colours and fashion.

xoxo
