MAC Face and Body Review & A Guide to MAC Foundations

Hey guys,
As you know from my recent haul post, I purchased the MAC Face and Body Foundation and as promised I am going to review it today as well as telling you about other MAC Foundations and what may be suited to you.

Coverage
This is the first MAC foundation I have tried. I like a very light, sheer coverage for my combination skin. This is the perfect foundation for me. It is quite similar to the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in the sense that they are both water-based foundations. I personally prefer water-based foundations because they give a very natural finish. This foundation is perfect for those of you who want a foundation to correct your skin tone and redness but it is necessary to use a concealer on any blemishes because it is so light. For those of you who prefer a medium to high coverage, this may not be for you.

Finish
As far as the finish of this foundation, it is quite dewy with it being water-based so if you have combination to oily skin in may need powdering but I don't find it to be a problem with this product.

What it claims:
A fluid foundation that provides low-to-medium coverage and a flawless, natural satin-shine finish. Skin conditioning, water-resistant and long-wearing.

I agree that this gives a very natural finish and is quite long wearing. It is also buildable but only to a certain point before it looks cakey and feels very heavy.

Application
I find that this is applied best with my fingers however the saleswoman in the shop tried to persuade me that this wasn't a good method. She used the Mac 188 or 187, I can't remember which but they are duo-fibre brushes. I have heard people say that those are a great way to apply it but I personally didn't want to spend $35 when I can apply it with my fingers just as well. Let me know below if there are any brushes you love to apply this with.

Size and Price
This foundation is available in two different sizes. The 50ml bottle costs $27 and the 120ml $35 so I went with the larger bottle because obviously you get a lot more product for your money this way at only $7 more but over double the amount of product. The average foundation holds 30ml of product so even the smaller bottle is considerably bigger than an average foundation.

Colour
The colours are the same as other MAC foundations so this is a sort of guide to choosing the right colour at MAC. I would recommend getting colour tested in the shop to assure you don't waste money but I'll tell you what your colour might mean.

The Letters
So before the number of you colour, there is a letter/two letters and this is what they mean:
C - This stands for Cool and means that you have a olive-golden undertone.
NC - This stands for Neutral Cool and means that you have a golden beige undertone.
N - This stands for Neutral and means that you have a beige undertone.
NW - This stands for Neutral Warm and means that you have a pink beige undertone.
W - This stands for Warm and means that you have a pink undertone.

The Numbers
The number that follows the letter determines how deep the shade of you skin tone is. The higher the number, the deeper the colour.

I am the colour C2 so I have a golden, olive undertone. This colour is the perfect match for me.
