Cheese Scones Recipe

I love making cheese scones and after slightly tweaking a recipe I found in one of my Mum's old cookbooks, I decided to share the recipe with you.

Ingredients:
• 8oz Self-raising flour
• 185ml milk
• 4oz Mature Cheddar Cheese
• Pinch of Salt
• 1oz Butter

1. Preheat the oven to 210C.

2. In a large mixing bowl, mix your flour and crumble your butter with it using your fingertips until the mixed flour and butter look like breadcrumbs. Add a pinch of salt.

3. Now make a well in the centre and add your milk, leave a small amount of milk for glazing the top of the scones later on.

4. Using a flat-bladed knife, mix the milk in with the flour and butter.

5. Add your mature cheddar cheese. At the point the mixture should be extremely sticky but this is right.

6. Now using some flour and a rolling pin, roll out your mixture. It's up to you how thick you want them to be but since we used self-raising flour they will naturally rise in the oven.
*tip* I find that making them thinner tastes better personally.

7. Using a round cutter, cut your scones out and put them on a greased baking tray.

8. Now that you have cut all of your scones, glaze the scones with the milk you left from earlier using a pastry brush.

9. Now I like to add cheese to the tops of the scones.
*tip* I find that even though we put a lot of cheese in the scones, they lose their taste when baked. The more cheese they have on the top, the cheesier and better they tend to taste.

10. Bake your scones for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Keep checking them.
*tip* They tend to taste better browner.

11. Now your scones are ready to eat!

Favourite Perfumes

I am a major perfume hoarder, I buy way too many so narrowing down my five favourites was difficult but these are the ones I chose...

1. Victoria's Secret Amber Romance Body Mist
This is a body spray rather than a perfume. It has more of a vanilla scent as apposed to floral and I wear it everyday, I just love it. Also it's great as the bottle holds a lot of product but it's still relatively inexpensive and affordable.

2. Giorgio Armani Emporio She
This is quite a different scent and it reminds me more of a men's cologne. It isn't as floral, fruity or vanilla as most women's perfumes. It smells more edgy. It's difficult to describe a scent but it is more of a manly smell whilst still being a women's perfume.

3. The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine
This perfume I got after my best friends recommendation. The only way to describe it is to say it smells like holiday. I can't put my finger on what it is but it kind of smells like a suncream but in a really good way. I love it and it makes me think of my holidays.

4. British Spears Fantasy
This is a very vanilla smelling perfume. It is lovely and most people love it, I've seen lots of girls use it. I also have the Midnight Fantasy one which is more fruity. I love that one too but I prefer this one.

5. Dolce and Gabana The One
This is such a great perfume and it's the only one that I am guaranteed to get a compliment with. Every single time I wear it, somebody asks me what I'm wearing. I love this one.

Sleek Au Naturel Palette Review

I received this Sleek palette from my best friend for Christmas. It is my first product from Sleek and I really like it so I wanted to review it today.

I really like the packaging of this product. It is simple black with Sleek written on the front. The quality of the packaging is very good with it being hard-wearing.

As you can see this palette has a very large mirror which I find perfect for travel as you can do all your makeup in this mirror.

There are a mixture of mattes and glitter colours in this palette and they are very pigmented. I find it is easy to get a variety of different looks with these 12 shades. My personal favourite look is a very natural one using the colour Honeycomb all over the lid and working Toast into the crease.

A few of the colours on these swatches don't show very well but they are better on the lid. This is available at most drugstores in the UK and is £7.99 which I find a great  price for the amount of shadows and quality.

What's In My Bag? 2015

I purchased this new bag in London in December because I was in need of a slightly bigger hangbag than my previous ones.

This one I got from Topshop for £40 and it is a lovely mink colour which is great as it matches both black themes outfits and brown themes outfits.

Opening the bag, it is mainly just one big pocket although there is a small zip where I keep tablets and plasters, then there is also a little pocket which is perfect for dropping my phone in.

The first things I have are a small pocket journal that I bought in Selfridges for writing notes and mainly planning blog posts. Then I also have a small note pad which I got from my Aunty that says niece on it. I then have a pencil case which isn't always in my bag but I had it in there this weekend. I also have a couple of pieces of homework and some leaflets and tickets from Harry Potter World in Watford.

I then have my iPod, phone charger, portable phone charger from Charming Charlie and one usb stick that has 4 different chargers on top which is perfect as is can charge my iPod, phone and anybody else's phone. I also have my earphones wrapped around a little fishbone squidgy thing I got recently which is really handy to prevent them getting tangled.

Then I have some tissues, grips, a burts bees original lip balm, rimmel moisture renew lipstick in nude delight and a mac lipstick in fanfare.

I then have a badge from the Harry Potter studios at Watford, a farmstand apple hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works which is my favourite. A hello Breath spray, calming drops, pens, a lip vitamins lip balm and lots of Apple Hubba Bubba.

I then have my fake Michael Kors purse and a calculator to help me with the homework I was taking.

MAC's Pro-Longwear Concealer Review

When I was in London a couple of weeks ago, I bought this new concealer because I'd heard so much about it.

This is MAC's Pro Longwear concealer. It is quite high coverage but the thing thats unique about it is that is does not look cakey or like you're wearing too much makeup. It covers all of my blemishes and redness but it looks very natural still. I prefer not to use it under my eyes because it is quite a creamy texture and I prefer lighter concealers to blend under my eyes but it is great for blemishes.

This contains 9ML of product which is quite good and the packaging is great. It is a small glass container which does have a pump. My pumps quite stiff though so it does often pump out too much product but I find that it is alright and if I put the lid on, I can use the excess concealer another day. This retails at £17 which I think is a good price for the quality.

The best thing about this product is the colour range. Obviously MAC is very good at varying the shades it offers and much like any of the other foundations or concealers, this does have a wide selection. I am the colour NC20 which is a golden/olive undertone but still fairly pale.

I would 100% recommend this product and it is one of my favourite concealers.

2014 Hate-Its

2014 is over and with some favourites always comes hate-it's. Today I'm going to be telling you my disappointing products of 2014.

1. Freederm Gel
I bought this after seeing the many adverts and before and after photos. I don't have acne but I get blemishes every so often. I was hoping that this would completely vanish these spots and help my skin but it hasn't at all. I thought it might just not agree with my skin type but after talking to a friend that also uses it, they didn't like it either. I was disappointed with this.

2. Clinique Acne Solutions Foam Cleanser
Again, I bought this hoping that it would give me a nice complexion but I saw no significant difference in my skin after having used it for a while. I find that it is a nice foam cleanser but for the price, I think simples foam cleanser competes highly with it.

3. The Bling Ring
This has been the only film that I didn't finish watching up until recently with Dumb and Dumber Too. My best friend gave me it to watch because she loved it. My sister and I sat down to watch it and both agreed after about an hour or so into it that it wasn't worth watching anymore. It's interesting at first as it is a true story but the plot doesn't really go anywhere after having watched it for a good hour.

4. "You wanna bae, or nah?"
My friends will probably all laugh at this because they know how much I hate this saying. This year it seems that this catchphrase has been going around so much and I just can't stand it. I don't know what it is about it but it just really gets under my skin when people say it which of course, makes people want to say it more to me.

I haven't really hated many things this year which is a good thing but these are the few that I was disappointed with.

2014 Favourites

My overall most popular posts are still my 2013 Favourites and Disappointing products of 2013 so I have been looking forward to doing this again. There are quite a lot of favourites in this seeing as it's a full years worth so here they are…

Also any items mentioned that i have reviewed will be linked at the bottom.

Beauty:
I have tried to minimise the products I mention because I have also loved Benefit's The Porefessional and They're Real mascara as well as Soap and Glory's Brow Archery.

1. MAC Ladyblush
This blush has got to be my absolute favourite. I have worn it since purchasing it in the summer and it gives such a natural flush of colour, especially with it being a cream blush.

2. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
You can create an endless possibility of looks with this palette and it is perfect for travel as its compact.

3. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
This concealer is £4.19 and is honestly one of my favourites. It compares highly with my MAC concealer but for a fraction of the price.

4. MAC Pro-longwear concealer
This concealer is my favourite. The wide range of colours make it possible for you to get the exact right shade and it is such a lovely coverage product. I will be doing a review on it soon.

5. Maybelline Pure BB cream
This BB cream has acne treatment in it which is great as it helps your skin. I also love how light it feels on my skin. I have worn this with every makeup look since buying it.

6. L'Oreal Skin Perfection Moisturizer
This moisturiser is such a thick lovely texture and I find that my skin really does benefit from using it. I have repurchased it a few times now but it lasts a really long time. Any of my friends that have b
borrowed it agree that it is wonderful.

7. Victoria's Secret Amber Romance Body Spray
I love this scent and use it everyday.

8. Bath & Body Works Farmstand Apple Hand Sanitizer
This is my favourite hand sanitizer, I love the smell of it. The unfortunate thing is that its only available at Fall/Autumn so I have to seriously stock up when i can get my hands on it!

Others:

9. Nikon D3200
I got this camera for my birthday last year and I have loved it. I take it every time I go on holiday and I get some great photos with it.

10. Candles
This year I have been obsessing over candles. I light them all the time and have several on the go at once. My favourites are Yankee Candles as I find they really make a great scent that is very strong.

11. Portable Phone Charger
My portable charger that I got from Charming Charlie has been so handy this year, I like to keep it in my handbag and use it when I need to.

12. iPhone 6
I've only just gotten this recently but I love it! I am going to be doing a 'What's On My iPhone 6?" in the new year.

13. Taylor Swift
I've been listening to Taylor Swifts 1989 album on repeat these last few months but I've also been getting into her earlier albums recently. I really love her music.

14. Netflix
I am quite new to Netflix but I've really been enjoying it, I've watched a lot of Gossip Girl with it!

15. Divergent
The other thing I've liked watching is this film, I can't wait for the second one to come out!

16. No Makeup Selfie for Cancer Research and the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
I really enjoyed taking part in these to raise money and awareness for these charities. I loved seeing everybody come together to support a good cause.

17. Milo!
How could I not mention my sisters new dog! I did a post all about him but its been really fun having him around.

Those are all of my 2014 favourites! What were your favourites this year?

New Year Goals

As the new year approaches, I wanted to look back at my goals last year to see if I have achieved them and make new ones for the future. I'm warning you now, this is going to be a long post!

Re-visiting last years resolutions
Last year, I did a post, very similar to this one, stating both the aspects of my blog that I would like to improve and my own personal resolutions. I looked back at it today to see if I had achieved those goals and here's what they were...

Blogging Goals:
• Reach 3000 followers on bloglovin'
• Become people's "favourite blogger"
• Improve my posts
• Keep to my posting schedule
• Make my blog well-known

With around 2.6K followers on bloglovin, I haven't quite reached my goal but I'm ute it's not too far away which is great, thank you all. I would say my posts have improved since last year but there is still definitely room for improvement. I have roughly stuck to my posting schedule but there's been several points of the year where I've not but I am still proud of myself. As far as making my blog well-known and becoming people's favourite blogger, I can't really say whether I have achieved this or not. I know that I do get a lot more views now and am even sometimes tagged in your posts which is lovely so I am grateful for that, thank you.

Life Goals:
Always see a silver lining
• Eat healthy and drink lots of water
• Become a fitter person
• Look after my skin
• Study hard
• Have fun

I have become a much more positive person this year I personally feel as I do try to see a silver lining but my friends and family will probably still say I'm pessimistic. I have definitely drank lots more water this year which I am very happy about and I have looked after my skin but I still have not exercised. I just don't enjoy it but I will still try again next year. I have studied harder but I need to work even harder next year with lots of exams coming up. Overall, this year I have had fun which was my main goal.

2015 Resolutions…
As I said in my post last year, I try to think of these more as goals to reach than resolutions to keep as we all know most people break their resolutions within the first week of the new year. I like to treat them as something I need to work towards before the year is over so here are my goals...

Blogging Goals:
Take better photos
• Improve the quality of my posts
• Keep a tighter posting schedule

Next year I want to try and make my blog even better but lengthening my posts where I can and improving photos. I also want to make sure I keep to my schedule.

Life Goals:
• Do 10,000 steps every day
• Take more responsibility and be organised
• Improve my diet
• Always think positive
• Have fun

I thought that making exercising more a goal was probably wishful thinking so I decided to improve my fitness by ensuring that I do 10,000 steps every day which is the amount you should do. I also want to improve my diet because I eat very little as I'm so fussy. I need to be more organised and responsible because I have a lot of exams coming up this year. I have bought a journal from Selfridges to keep in my handbag that will hopefully make me slightly more organised and planned.

Finally I will always strive to become a more positive person and have fun which is my ultimate goal every year.

I hope you set yourself good goals this year and hopefully follow them through.

xoxo
