Rimmel Foundations Comparisons/Review

So you all know that I'm not much of a foundation person, I buy so many to try out but can never find one that I absolutely love. I have combination skin which is part of the problem, it means that I need to find a foundation that doesn't make my face look too oily but also one that doesn't cling to the dry patches on my skin. I have tried three different Rimmel foundations and I'm going to review them for you today. Click on the product names for links to the website.

Firstly I bought the Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. I love the Stay Matte Powder so much so I thought that I would try the Foundation and I tend to like mousse foundations because they don't feel to cakey but don't look too oily on my skin. The problem is that this foundation can look very cakey and feels quite heavy on the skin which is something that I personally don't like. It gives good coverage and is a good consistency, I just don't like the way it looks on my skin. The packaging is good though, it is in a squeeze tube so you can get just the amount of product you want.

What it claims:
  • A Feather-light, liquid mousse that blends flawlessly for natural-looking and an all day shine control Silky smooth formula for a perfectly matte, baby-soft finish.
  • Lightweight texture won’t feel heavy or greasy.
  • Minimises the appearance of pores

I do think it is a very matte foundation but I'm not sure about it being lightweight or natural looking. It does minimise the appearance of pores though.

This foundation is available in 5 shades but they are mostly paler shades: Light Ivory, Ivory, Soft Beige, Sand and Natural Beige so there are no darker colours which might be a problem for some people. I like the lighter colours of this foundation though, I have it in Ivory and it is a good colour and isn't too orange toned like some foundations are. This foundation retails at £5.99 which is a reasonable price for a foundation but I would personally not buy it again.

The second foundation is the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation. This is a very dewy foundation and is good for most skin types. This foundation gets a lot of attention on the internet and is Rimmels most popular foundation and I do like it too. It is probably in my top 3 foundations that I have found so I would repurchase it.

What it claims:
  • A match so perfect, it's undetectable in any light!
  • Light perfecting radiance foundation.
  • Traceless coverage for perfectly flawless skin under any light.
  • Lasts all day. SPF 18

I do find that it does look quite flawless on the skin as it does give great coverage and it is very unnoticeable and natural but you can still tell you have foundation on. It does last all day and makes your face look very radiant especially since it has an SPF 18 which is great too.

This foundation is available in 11 shades and unlike the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation, it caters for all skin colours. Available in: Light Porcelain, Ivory, Classic Ivory, Light Nude, True Ivory, Soft Beige, Classic Beige, True Nude, Warm Honey, Natural Beige and Bronze which is great because it has all different skin undertones. Some of these colours are extremely yellow toned and some are pink toned, it caters for all skin colours. It retails at £6.99 so slightly more expensive than the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse but in my opinion, it is a much better foundation and is still quite cheap for a very good product.

The third foundation is the Rimmel 9-in-1 BB Cream. This product is much more natural with it being a BB cream which I like however it doesn't give as much coverage because it is a beauty balm. I don't mind because I wear concealer anyway but this may be a disadvantage to some people. You can get this in a matte version as well but I wanted a foundation that would make my skin look more radiant and dewy.

What it claims:

"Rimmel's 1st 9-in-1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup 9 in 1 results: Primes, moisturises, minimises pores, conceals, covers, smoothes, mattifies, brightens, and helps protect. Lightweight, ultra comfortable formula instantly gives a flawless, 100% natural finish. SPF 25."

This foundation does last a long time so I would say that it primes. It is very moisturising and does smooth and brighten the skin but I'm not so sure about covering, concealing, minimising pores, mattifying or protecting. It is also very lightweight and comfortable too and has an SPF 25 which is great.

This foundation is only available in two different shades which isn't great. It is available in Light and Medium so anybody with a darker skin tone might struggle with this product. It retails at £6.99 like the Match Perfection.
